Ian Farthing
IAN FARTHING
Director, Macbeth
Ian has previously appeared at the St.
Lawrence Shakespeare Festival in productions of Comedie of
Errors, Twelfth Night, Romeo and
Juliet and A Midsummer Night's
Dream and has been Artistic Director since
2006.
Although born in Vancouver, Ian trained
in the UK and worked there for ten years before returning to Canada
in 1999. Some of his favourite theatre credits include: London
productions of South Pacific and
Cinderella; working at Shakespeare's Globe
with the Lion's Part; Vancouver productions of
Cabaret, The Mousetrap
and Shear Madness (Arts Club Theatre),
Lettice and Lovage, The Foreigner and The
Glass Menagerie (Pacific Theatre), Stones in
His Pockets (Graffiti Theatre) and
Company (Waterfront Theatre). He has just
completed a successful run in The Sound of Music
in Toronto. He is also a member of the nationally
acclaimed men's choir Chor Leoni
Directing credits include Vancouver
productions of Twelve Angry Men, Gathering Water Drawing
Wood and Tenderloin.
For the Festival he recently directed The Merchant of
Venice.
Ian sits as an Artistic Advisor on the
Board of Pacific Theatre in Vancouver and also gained numerous
years of arts management experience as Administrator and Board
member of the Arts Centre Group, an arts organization based in the
UK.
