John Doucet
Set Design
John is a multi-disciplinary theatre artist in Ottawa, juggling acting and set design in both official languages. As an actor, he has worked with most French theatre companies in Canada, and recently was part of the National Arts Centre Resident Acting Company, performing in both Vimy (co-production with the G.C.T.C.) and Saint-Carmen of The Main (co-prod. with Canadian Stage). As a designer, he has mostly worked on independent projects such as Live from the Belly of a Whale for Mi Casa Theatre at the UnderCurrents Festival, and Airport Security for Gruppo Rubato.
In 2012, he will be touring with Ottawa's Vox Théâtre in its production of Ti-Jean de partout, as well as designing for Théâtre de l'Île. John recently made a couch out of old recycled doors and leftover cushions, which is surprisingly comfortable.
