General Auditions 2022

Auditions are completed for 2022. 

We will be auditioning again in the Winter of 2023.


      "Speak the speech, I pray you.”

 a Company of Fools and the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival are holding joint General Auditions in Ottawa for their 2022 seasons. Professional actors interested in working in Ottawa or Prescott are invited to submit.

Candidates will be considered for a summer production at the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival and a spring development workshop and fall production at a Company of Fools.

Candidates should have a strong handle on Shakespearean text and be able to work outdoors during a variety of weather conditions. Skills in puppetry, movement and the ability to play hand-held instruments will be considered an asset. 

Auditions will be held in Ottawa at the Great Canadian Theatre Company on January 7th, and 8th, from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. Proof of double vaccination is required and must be sent in advance of the audition appointment.

Candidates are asked to prepare:

  • Two contrasting monologues, one from Shakespeare and the other of your choice. 

  • Optional: an acapella song, no longer than 30 seconds

CAEA members: please indicate your Equity status at the time of submission. Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Please bring your membership number to the audition.

Agents: please do not send bulk submissions. If submitting for your clients, please submit them individually, following the format above.
