HOST AN ACTOR

For 22 years, we have relied on the hospitality of our local community to house our Festival artists. Our past billets will tell you what exciting and rewarding times they have had, and we would be happy to arrange for you to talk to some of them and learn more about their experience.

Now we are, searching again for local residents to open their homes for our summer season. This will enable our actors and creative team to stay close to the theatre and enjoy comfortable accommodations while getting into their roles so their best work can be done.

As a token of our gratitude, the Festival offer a season subscription package to all billets.

We will support you through the billeting process, such as arranging keys for tenant arrival or changeover if you are out of town. By welcoming our artists into your homes, you make it possible for us to continue to bring the top theatre professionals to Prescott from across the country to work on our amphitheatre stage.

A NOTE ON COVID-19:

For the safety of all those involved in our productions, all Festival artists and the homeowners who welcome them will be required to be fully vaccinated.

WHAT DOES A BILLET SPACE LOOK LIKE?

  • Private or semi-private apartments are highly desired (e.g. granny suite, self-contained bedroom and bathroom, separate entrance, etc.)

  • A private bedroom in a homeowner’s home with access to a shared cooking and living space

  • Walking distance to the theatre (ideally 3km), but further locations with parking spaces are needed as well

  • Must have internet

  • Must have basic furnishings (some flexibility) and bedding and linens (laundry of same would be done by the billet)

  • Bonus if there is laundry.

ARE YOU VACATIONING THIS SUMMER?

Let us take care of your house while you are away and billet one or more of our team.

Or… Do you have an RV sitting in your yard that could be used?

WHO WILL BE LIVING IN MY SPACE? WHAT DO THEY EXPECT FROM ME?

Actors, Stage Managers, Designers, Directors and more travel from across Canada (and sometimes further!) to work with us at the Festival. These are professional artists who will be busy at the Festival for most of their time with you and are simply looking for a clean, safe, and welcoming home to sleep at night. They will need some room in the fridge but are not expecting a maid service!

We want to acknowledge the original caretakers of this land, the peoples of the Anishnabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Oneida and many other First Nations People who crossed these lands for sustenance, trade, and survival. This acknowledgement recognizes their long history, predating the establishment of European Colonies. We acknowledge this territory’s significance for the Indigenous Peoples who lived and continue to live upon it, a people whose practices and spiritualities were tied to the land and continue to develop in relationship to the territory and its other inhabitants today. We offer our gratitude for their contributions to this community, having respect for all as we share this space now and walk side by side into the future.
