ST LAWRENCE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL IS HIRING!

The St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival is seeking a dynamic, personable, organized and creative individual who is committed to supporting the efforts of this annual summer Festival. 

The St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival was founded in 2003, and working with our local community; we aim to provide diverse audiences with an inspirational and accessible theatrical experience of the highest professional standard. The Festival welcomes a company of actors each June who perform throughout July and August and operate a Young Artist Training Program and other theatrical and special events.


POSITION: Production Assistant

 

START DATE: June 5th, 2023 DURATION: 10 weeks

WAGE: $17.00/hour x 35 hours/week LOCATION: Prescott, ON

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Site Co-ordinator assists the Artistic Director, Production Manager & Stage Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the production side of the Festival.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working with the Artistic Director, Production Manager, General Manager, and volunteers, the primary responsibilities of the Site Co-ordinator include:

  • Provides labour as required for the setup and tear down of mainstage productions on a daily basis

  • Assist Artistic Director and Production Manager as needed

  • Supervise volunteers assisting with construction, painting and prop building

  • Responsible for executing Stage Management assigned tasks during performances as well as stage

  • Turnarounds between performances

  • Work directly in the building and maintenance of set pieces, costumes and props

  • Assist in Front of House duties, as needed, including set up and take down

  • Assist assistant stage manager with costume care 

  • Other production duties as assigned

  • Operate lighting, and sound or be running crew during shows

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS necessary for the successful performance of the position include:

  • between the ages of 18 and 30

  • some skills in theatre production practice an asset

  • demonstrated interest in the performing arts

  • interpersonal and collaborative skills

  • self‐direction and ability to take initiative in a dynamic work environment

  • ability to prioritize work, problem-solve and manage numerous tasks simultaneously

  • comfortable working outdoors, available to work evenings and weekends
