2022  Our 20th Season

This bittersweet love story features enchanting music, an enigmatic countess, and the genius composer, Antonio Vivaldi. The Red Priest is a poignant variation on the themes of love and freedom by Governor General Award-nominated playwright Mieko Ouchi.

The Guild Festival Theatre returns to the Festival after last year's hugely popular production Salt-Water Moon with this sensuous dance of unconsummated love set in counterpoint to the music of Italy’s baroque master.

The Red Priest (Eight Ways to Say Goodbye) by Mieko Ouchi

Directed by Helen Juvonen

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python, and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunnit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. Winner of two Tony Awards and an Olivier Award for Best Comedy, the play is filled with nonstop laughs, over 100 characters (played by four actors), a plane crash, handcuffs and some good old-fashioned romance.
