Prescott has many restaurants to choose from for all tastes.  Why not try our dinner and show offer with our friends at the Red George Pub, overlooking the river right next to the Amphitheatre. A great place for dinner before the show meet the actors after the show for a drink. They also provide our bar service before the show and during intermission.

 

WHAT ELSE TO DO

A few thousand years ago the shores of the mighty St. Lawrence River were a commercial transportation stopping off place for the Iroquoian people, the River provided market and ceremonial sites for the well organized Haudenasaunee farmers. Hundreds of years later, European and Loyalist settlers created a community of great significance in the history of Upper Canada.

At one time, 27 taverns in downtown Prescott (the community was named for Major Gen. Robert Prescott, governor-in-chief of Canada) ensured a lively and vibrant place for the soldiers of Fort Wellington and the sailors of the forwarding trade ships. In fact, Labatts and Wisers both had their beginnings here. In the latter half of the 19th century, the focus shifted from Water Street to King Street when eventually the trains and the industry moved away from the waterfront.

In the past 35 years, the Town of Prescott has created a renewed community connection with the river. With studies, by-laws, special programmes, construction and a rejuvenated community effort, slowly, but surely the deserted waterfront of 1969 has been transformed - and the work goes on. The Sandra S. Lawn Harbour was officially opened in 1989. A Downtown-Waterfront Revitalization project was completed for the Town, a truly remarkable community effort. The creation of the Prescott Heritage Waterfront Trail on Parks Canada land is an arboretum for indigenous trees and shrubs, as well as a habitat for birds and butterflies; and a splendid walkway along this most magnificent of rivers.

Hundreds of years later, the St. Lawrence still provides a powerful cultural draw for people of all ages.
