ST LAWRENCE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL IS HIRING!

The St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival is seeking a dynamic, personable, organized and creative individual who is committed to supporting the efforts of this annual summer Festival. 

The St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival was founded in 2003, and working with our local community; we aim to provide diverse audiences with an inspirational and accessible theatrical experience of the highest professional standard. The Festival welcomes a company of actors each June who perform throughout July and August and operate a Young Artist Training Program and other theatrical and special events.

 

POSITION: BOX OFFICE CO-ORDINATOR

START DATE: June 26th, 2023 DURATION: 8 weeks

WAGE: $17.00/hour x 35 hours/week LOCATION: Prescott, ON

 

POSITION OVERVIEW: The participant’s primary responsibility will be to be the primary contact with members of the public in our performance box office. They will be tasked with running our performance box office sales and souvenir shop. This includes selling tickets, directing customer inquiries and daily sales reconciliations. It includes handling cash and credit cards. As a key member of our public relations team, the participant will handle patron concerns and transactions in person and ensure the safety and comfort of our patrons when in the theatre space. Once familiar with the company, they may be given the responsibility to oversee and promote our UNDER 14 GO FREE and PAY WHAT YOU CAN programs. They will also schedule and organize our volunteers who act as ushers. In general, they will be the first point of contact for the Festival during performances.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Working in consultation with the board, staff, and volunteers, the primary responsibilities of the Box Office Coordinator include:

  • Efficiently run the box office performing cash handling etc. 

  • Recruitment, mobilization, training, assignment and coordination of all volunteers

  • ensure the smooth operation of the Festival’s ticket sales and volunteer force

  • track volunteer contributions

  • perform office duties as required

  • other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS necessary for the successful performance of the position include:

  • between the ages of 18 and 30

  • demonstrated interest in the performing arts

  • interpersonal and collaborative skills

  • well‐developed communications, public relations and administrative skills

  • self‐direction and ability to take initiative in a dynamic work environment

  • ability to prioritize work, problem-solve and manage numerous tasks simultaneously

  • comfortable working outdoors, and available to work evenings and weekends.
